Red Wings vs Canucks Preview 2/2/12

The Red Wings take on Vancouver tonight (10pm EST, FSD) in a matchup of two of the league’s top squads. Some quick notes for tonight:

  • Danny Cleary was briefly in the hospital due to some excess fluid in his leg. He is okay and will be in the lineup tonight, although he will need to have the knee drained at some point. In his own tough guy words, “at some point, but the time is not now.” Gotta love hockey players.
  • Speaking of that, if you missed it, check out Justin Abdelkader taking one, (and attempting to take another) for the team.
  • Keeping on the pain train, Tomas Holmstrom will be back in the lineup after having some negative side effects from a cortisone treatment during the All Star Break.

So here are the forward lines:

Both teams were down playing the Kronwall hit which led to some high tempers last game. We’ll see if that holds true on the ice.

Shortly after this hit, was another Jimmy Howard scuffle, which I wrote about in a recent article. Vancouver went on to win the game 4-2.

Sounds like it should be a fun one from the Rogers Arena. Buckle those chin straps boys!
